Commencement at UNC Charlotte is held twice annually, once in May and once in December. However, the Graduate School confers degrees after each term (Spring, Summer, and Fall). Summer graduates participate in the December ceremonies.
Students participating in Commencement events have successfully completed all degree requirements and submitted all required forms by the published University deadlines found in the Academic Calendar. Please note that master's diplomas and graduate certificates are not distributed at Commencement but instead mailed out 6-8 weeks after the ceremony. All graduates should verify their current email and mailing address through my.uncc.edu.
- Detailed instructions on the line-up, procession, and ceremony logistics, can be found on the University's Commencement website.
- Graduate caps and gowns are available at the Campus Bookstore several months prior to commencement. UNC Charlotte also offers custom doctoral regalia.
Special Note on Coronavirus
Due to the evolving nature of coronavirus COVID-19 and based on current federal health guidance, UNC Charlotte’s May commencement ceremony has been postponed. The University is working to develop alternative ceremony plans and will share those sometime in May. For the most current information on commencement, visit the Commencement website.
