How to Read and Write Academic Papers

January 18, 2019 - 2:30 PM to 3:45 PM
Woodward Hall 106

Facilitated by Dr. Tom Moyer

Reading and writing academic papers are critical skills for researchers, but often times, students are left to “figure it out”. In this talk, Dr. Moyer will provide an overview of the processes that he uses to read and write academic conference papers. He will discuss the reason for reading and writing papers, as well as the process of peer review for conferences and journals. While the focus of the talk will be heavily biased towards computer security, many of the takeaways and processes will apply much more broadly.
