Thank You From the Dean
We believe that the most effective graduate training for the future will prepare students to collaborate effectively across disciplines, adapt quickly to changing conditions, work well in teams, communicate effectively, and work successfully with people whose language and culture are different from their own. Our actions are firmly grounded in the belief that graduate education forms the backbone of American competitiveness and innovation.
Outstanding graduate students are the key to the success of any research university. They are necessary to attract top faculty which in turn drives our research and scholarship forward to the next level. A great university may be known for the quality of its undergraduate experience or its exceptional professional programs, but its reputation as an outstanding research university is largely founded on its emphasis on linking research and education through graduate studies, and its ability to recruit, mentor, support, retain, and ultimately graduate exceptional graduate students. This University is dedicated to the social, intellectual, and economic development of the Charlotte region, the state of North Carolina, and the nation.
Thank you for considering a gift to support graduate education and research at UNC Charlotte. As North Carolina’s Urban Research University, graduate education is fundamental to our mission.
Please take a moment to consider how you may effectively assist UNC Charlotte’s Graduate School in educating and training graduate students whose work in laboratories, private industry and national universities contributes to America’s global leadership. Today’s graduate student becomes tomorrow’s highly trained, skilled leader or employee in the knowledge-based economy. Private donations are vital to support needed fellowships, research activities, professional development and educational opportunities for all graduate students across the UNC Charlotte campus.

“Many students may face hardships on their journey to earn their master’s or doctoral degree. Sometimes this could prevent them from finishing. I wanted to be able to support them all the way to the finish line, just as my family and so many others supported me.”
