Accessibility Navigation:
1. Access your application record.
Login to your application account using the same PIN (not your email address) and password assigned to you when you first created your application account.
If you do not remember your PIN and password, simply click on "Forgot your PIN or Password?" located in the User Login box and follow the instructions.
2. Find "Submission Status."
Once you successfully access your online account, please see "Submission Status." The date indicated here refers to the date on which you submitted your application for admission.
Your "application status" is indicated immediately beneath the "submit date."
For an explanation of the application status, please refer to the chart below.
If no text appears in this area, then the Office of Graduate Admissions has not yet processed your application. Generally, it takes 3 weeks after submitting the online application before the "application status" is assigned; however, during seasons of high application volume (December through March), it may take longer.

Interpreting the Application Status
|
Application Status
|
Explanation
|
|---|---|
| Applicant Wait Listed |
Your application is referred to the academic program for an admissions recommendation, and the graduate coordinator/director recommended you be wait-listed. |
|
Application Complete After Deadline |
Your application cannot be considered for admission because the required documentation was received after the application deadline, and the program to which you applied is no longer reviewing applications for the term to which you applied. |
| Application Not Complete |
Your application is missing requisite documentation. To determine which item(s) are missing, look under the Recommendation Providers and the Application Status sections in your application account. If you have already submitted these items, please allow 1 week for the items to be entered as "received" in your application status. Also, if you have taken a standardized admission test or English proficiency test, it normally takes 4-5 weeks from the day you take the test for the official test scores to reach the Office of Graduate Admissions. The Graduate School will continue to accept application items after the standard application deadline date has passed, except for those programs that have “early application deadline dates” (see Academic Programs) or which have reached enrollment capacity. |
| Application Pending Review by Dean of Students Office |
Your background check is being reviewed by UNC Charlotte's Campus Safety Committee who will then make a recommendation to the Graduate School as to whether your application for admission may be considered further. Your application will be placed on hold until the recommendation has been made. |
| Associate Dean Review |
The academic program and the associate dean of the Graduate School have reviewed your application for admission, and a final decision regarding admission should be available for you to view online within a few days. Once the decision letter is posted, the Office of Graduate Admissions will email you with details about how to view the letter.
|
| Decision Made |
A final decision has been made on your application for admission, and you will be able to view your decision letter online within 1 business day. Additionally, the Office of Graduate Admissions will notify you via email once the final admission decision has been made. |
| File in Process for Referral to Academic Dept |
All required application items have been received by the Office of Graduate Admissions and are being processed administratively so that your file can be referred to the graduate coordinator/director of the academic program for review and admission consideration.
|
| Pending Review by Graduate School Associate Dean |
Your admissions application is undergoing a final review by the associate dean of the Graduate School, who will generally make a final admission decision within 1 week.
|
| Post-Baccalaureate-Ready for Decision |
Your application for admission as a post-baccalaureate (non-degree) student is being processed. Admissions decisions are usually made within 1 week, and the Office of Graduate Admissions will email you once the decision is made.
|
| Referred |
Your application materials were released to the graduate coordinator/director of the program to which you applied for review and admission consideration. Please note that the review process varies by graduate program, as does the amount of time required to make a recommendation on admission. For example, some graduate programs review applications on a "rolling" or continual basis while other review at specific time periods. Some graduate programs may also require interviews. In some departments, the graduate coordinator may be the sole reviewer, while in other departments, a committee may review all applications. The Office of Graduate Admissions cannot predict how long a review for admission consideration will take, but we will notify you by email once an admission decision has been made. At that time, you will also be able to view the decision letter in your online application account. Again, the Office of Graduate Admissions does not know how long the review will take. You should refer to the Academic Programs webpage and click on the program link or contact the graduate/coordinator of the program for information on the review process |
| Withdrawn Before Decision | Your application is withdrawn from admission consideration. Such withdrawal occurs 1) after you have notified the Office of Graduate Admissions or the graduate coordinator/director that you no longer wish to be considered for admission to the Graduate School at UNC Charlotte or 2) you do not meet the minimum standards for admission. |
